I love when a whole song comes to me completely…lyrics & melody together 🙂
I must dust the cobwebs off this song. Need to get another electric guitar so I can break into my ‘rock’ tracks
10/06/18 – Rainy Sunday. Need to work on this track. I’ll just keep it simple & use open/muted/rhythmic chords to start with. Can’t recall how I did it all that time ago when I wrote it
STRUCTURE
V1 & V2, Chorus, V3, Chorus, Outro
Acoustic…but I could turn this into a Pat Benatar-style electric guitar track??
Good strong rock beat + Timpani (thunder) & electricity ‘rain stick’ kind of sampled sound (blah blah)
No capo to start with
CHORDS
Verses:
A D A D ??
Pre-chorus:
D Am G
Chorus:
Confetti In The Sky
V1
Drivin in my car and there’s rain fallin down on my windscreen
And as I gaze through my tears I forget where I am
Cause you’re on my mind again…
I pull up to the lights and smile back at the bright sky
I see clouds forming hearts like they’re there to remind me
That everything’ll be okay…
V2
Then i’m walkin zombie style but I’ve forgotten the coins to the thief machine
And as I phase out again I think ‘f**k the change’
Cause you don’t want me anyway…
I head into the mall but I just can’t recall what the hell I came to buy
I see couples holdin hands like they’re there to remind me
That I’m on my own again…
Pre-Chorus
Sometimes I get so tired
Tired of all this tryin
Tryin while I’m always flyin solo
Yeah I’m so friggin tired
My heart feels like it’s dyin
Dyin cause I’m always flyin solo
(Then I look at the sky and it makes me smile)
Chorus
I see Confetti in the Sky
Remindin me I gotta keep on tryin
I see Confetti in the Sky
Remindin me I gotta keep on flyin
I see Confetti in the Sky…
And it’s fallin, yeah it’s fallin
Yeah it’s fallin down, down over you n me
V3
I somehow make it home and spill my stupid heart onto the screen
And as I daze through my fears I regret where I am
Cause I never learned to play the game…(And now it’s too late)
So I kick back on my bed but I can’t fall sleep
Knowing no reply it means goodbye
I wonder how much longer I’ll keep your tiny photo to remind me
(That you already called it a day)
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Outro: (slowly)
Yeah, you already called it a day
(I guess it’s time for me to call it a day)
